The houses
were all the
same,
shades of Gray
and Green.
Like army
barracks
filled with
soldiers.
The screen
doors
painted white,
each house
with a stoop,
to sit on in the
summer
or run to in a
game of tag.
A place to play
or be punished
to wait and
to watch.
It was good
to have a stoop,
to leave from
and return to.

Very clean and warm. I'm not sure but I think it needs one more stanza if that's the right word.
ReplyDeletei think you are right.. right before the last one... can you think of a couple lines... i had two lines that i took out... "a place to play or be punished".. which seems harsh but that is one thing that stoops were used for...
